The 2009 G8 is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, or sports sedan, available in two trims, the Sedan and the GT.

Upon introduction, the Sedan is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter, V6, 256-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The GT is equipped with a standard 6.0-liter, V8, 361-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 24-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The 2009 G8 is a carryover from 2008.
