The 2006 model year shows GMC upgrading every
vehicle in its extensive lineup, improving on
an already solid foundation committed to Professional
Grade quality. More power has been added to the
Sierra and Savana, while the Canyon has a new
available sport suspension for your consideration.
The Envoy and Envoy XL have received major face
lifts, and the Yukon now come equipped with OnStar,
Stabilitrak – Stability Control and a Tire
Pressure Monitor as standard equipment.
In 2005, J.D Power and Associates survey ranked
the Sierra 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty as the Highest
Ranked Heavy Duty Full-Size Pickup in initial
quality. In 2006, a more powerful Duramax Diesel
was introduced, while the Sierra 1500 enjoyed
an available new Vortec High Output V8 engine.
The new Duramax engine can now also run on a B5
diesel fuel, which contains a %5 biodiesel component.
Biodiesel is made from renewable agricultural
resources and provides fewer emissions than petroleum-based
fuel. While these engines continue to grow, GMC
also presents the environmentally-conscious Sierra
Parallel Hybrid truck, available nationwide in
limited quantities in 2006. The Hybrid runs on
a combination of gasoline and self-generated electrical
power.
For those who prefer a smaller truck, the Canyon
midsize delivers impressive power and comfortable
accommodations, and comes in a number of configurations
based on your needs. In 2006, the Canyon introduced
the ZQ8 Sport Suspension, which comes in at 2”
lower than the Z85.
The midsize Envoy and Envoy XL provide the best-in-class
cargo space, with 107.4 cubic feet of space. The
standard 291hp Vortec 4200 I-6 engine has been
named one of Ward’s Communications’
“10 Best Engines” the last three years.
These versatile SUV’s now can be ordered
with both sunroof and Rear DVD Entertainment,
and also have an optional 6.5” screen navigation
radio. These additions are also available on the
un-mistakable Envoy and Envoy XL Denali, which
comes with exclusive accessories including: new
18” wheels, a bright honeycomb grille and
special badging.
Lastly, the Yukon and Yukon XL, which comes ready
to provide room to accommodate 9 passengers and
their cargo, while delivering the best-in-class
fuel economy. The Yukon and Yukon XL are designed
for those customers who want more out of their
SUV – more power, more performance, more
comfort, and more style. The Yukon and Yukon XL
Denali come in 2006 with available 20” factory-installed
wheels to complement the Denali’s premium
styling.
